Description

Get past the drama of difficult people, improve work relationships, reduce stress, and keep calm when kittens become tigers at work. Explore solutions to managing conflict, different cultures, generations and difficult personalities to better lead and succeed. Participants will benefit by:

  • Exploring practical tools to handle difficult people whether or not you have sufficient positional authority
  • Learn to distinguish between various types of difficult behavior, and choose responses that have a high probability of succeeding rather than escalating a difficult situation
  • Develop analytical skills, specialized communication, confronting skills and conflict management strategies
  • Learn how to resolve conflicts before they grow into major crises
  • Understand how miscommunication among different cultures, generations, and personalities affects the workplace
  • Explore how to bridge the cultural/generational gap in today’s diverse workforce

Speaker(s)

Kostas Voutsas has been teaching Management and Human Resource courses for over 20 years. He is a tenured Professor of Business at Dickinson State University (DSU) in the Bismarck location. He is also an author, a corporate trainer, and motivational speaker.

Kostas received the distinguished teacher of the year award, the highest faculty award, the outstanding teacher of the year award, as well as the TRIO outstanding faculty award from DSU. He also received two outstanding presenter awards from Eastern Michigan University and the Clute Institute of Academic Research. Kostas delivers humorous dynamic presentations at national and state conferences and publishes his research in scholarly journals. He also serves as a consultant conducting individualized training/professional development seminars. Kostas has been conducting webinars for over 12 years. His book Secrets to Making Diversity Work also discusses gender, cultural, and generational differences.

Kostas has a Master of Science degree in Human Resource Management and Organizational Development and a Master of Business Administration degree.
