Description
This webinar will present an overview of landslide identification, mitigation, and soil slope stabilization. Particular attention will be given to geohazard events affecting critical assets (highways and transportation corridors, pipelines, transmission lines, and other critical infrastructure). Participants will learn design methodologies for various innovative mitigation techniques, proper construction for multiple solutions, and guided through several case studies showing the application of various solutions with actual design examples.

Speaker(s)
Wes Dickhut, P.E., M.S., is GeoStabilization’s Project Development Engineer for North and South Dakota. He earned degrees in geological engineering at the Colorado School of Mines and the University of Idaho. Wes has worked at engineering companies in Denver, Cincinnati, Syracuse and Landstuhl, Germany (U.S. Army CHPPM) and in North Dakota. Wes is a licensed Professional Engineer in North and South Dakota, Montana, Wyoming, and Kansas.
Bryan Wavra, P.E., M.S., is GeoStabilization’s Northwest Project Development Engineer. He has been involved in over 100 geohazard mitigation projects throughout Oregon, Washington, Montana, and Idaho. Bryan graduated from Oregon State University with both Bachelor and Master of Science Degrees in Civil Engineering with a geotechnical engineering emphasis. Bryan has experience in nearly all aspects of geotechnical engineering with expertise in geotechnical earthquake engineering.
Bob Barrett, P.G., GeoStabilization International Founder, holds a B.S. in geology from Marshall University. Bob worked for the West Virginia DOT and the Colorado DOT for over 30 years as a landslide specialist and as the chief geologist for design and construction of Interstate 70 across the Colorado Rockies. He is a leading researcher in the Geotechnical area and holds patents for rockfall mitigation devices and Geosynthetically Confined Soil (GCS®) retaining wall innovations.
Andy Bowman, P.E., M.S., is GeoStabilization's Project Development Engineer for California and Nevada. After earning both his BSCE and MSCE (with geotechnical emphasis) from San Diego State University, Andy spent the first decade of his career analyzing slope failures, landslide stability and bluff retreat all throughout Southern California. Within the last several years, Andy has categorized and provided repair recommendations for landslides and slope failures in AZ, UT, CO, NM, WY, ND, and SD.
Target Audience
This workshop has been developed for roadway maintenance personnel, geotechnical engineers, civil engineers, and engineering geologists that commonly deal with geohazards in soils, as well as public and private agency personnel that work with geohazard mitigation designers.
